It’s easy. Give me a call, or send an email. Begin by telling me a little bit about yourself and your photographic needs.

I’ll have a few questions, and I’m sure you’ll have some for me: how much will it cost, how far in advance is it necessary to schedule, what you should wear, whether I recommend a make-up and hair stylist, and so on.

We can get these questions asked and answered in a few minutes over the phone, or in a few email exchanges. Then, if you’re comfortable, we can go ahead and schedule.

Schedule a pre-shot meeting
Many of my clients, however, want to meet me before committing to a shoot. They may want to see more portfolio than is on this web site, or they may just want to get to know me a little better. So I encourage a one on one meeting before we schedule.

There may be other reasons for meeting as well. If the shoot is more complicated than a headshot--a portfolio or a comp card, for example--there is more to talk about. To begin with, we’ll discuss what shots can be done in the studio. If you want location shots, we’ll decide that beforehand. Also, we’ll make decisions about your wardrobe, and whether to use a make-up or hair stylist.

The photo shoot
It will be an exciting event, whether it’s in my Minneapolis studio or on location near a lake, down town, or a grassy field. Your job will be to come to the shoot showered and shorn and dressed in the wardrobe we selected earlier. I will take care of everything else. I will position you in with a background that works with your hair color and control the light so it’s soft but not muted. I will also work to encourage you to express yourself. Your portrait will be a reflection of your personality not a boring school photo.
